Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Borui Academy (“we,” “us,” “Borui Academy”), an online exam-preparation platform operated by Borui (sole proprietor, British Columbia, Canada), reachable at [email protected].

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your province / country, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Account & security

• You are responsible for the activity on your account.
• Use a strong, unique password. We hash all passwords with bcrypt.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access.
• Do not share or transfer your account. One account per person.

3. What you can use the service for

You may:

• Read lecture notes, watch embedded videos, and take diagnostic quizzes for free.
• If subscribed, practice questions, use the memory-curve engine, take mock exams, and use the AI tutor.
• Use the materials for personal exam preparation.

You may not:

• Scrape, copy in bulk, or redistribute our content (notes, questions, explanations).
• Share your subscription credentials with others.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
• Use automated tools to send unusually high request volumes (rate-limit applies).
• Submit content (e.g. flagged feedback) that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or contains personal information of third parties.

4. Subscriptions, single-course passes, and trials

• Free tier: always free, no card on file.
• All-Access / All-Access + Tools: monthly or yearly subscription. After the 7-day free trial, the card on file is charged at the rate shown at sign-up. Charges renew automatically until cancelled.
• Single Course Pass: one-time payment grants access to all features for one course until the course's next listed exam date + 30 days.
• You can cancel a subscription anytime from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain access through the end of the current paid period.
• Prices may change. Any change is announced ≥30 days before it applies to existing subscriptions.

5. Refunds

See our Refund Policyfor full details. In short: we'll refund any subscription within the first 14 days of the initial charge if you genuinely tried it and it didn't work for you. Single-course passes are non-refundable once accessed beyond a brief preview.

6. User-generated content

When you flag a question, write a study note, or submit feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it to improve the platform. We will never publicly attribute your name to flagged content without your explicit permission.

7. Embedded third-party content (YouTube videos)

Videos embedded on our chapter pages are served via YouTube's official iframe with attribution to the original creators. Playback, advertising, and metrics flow through YouTube to the creator. Borui Academy does not host, mirror, or paywall any third-party video. If you are a creator and wish your video removed, email [email protected] and we will remove the embed within 24 hours.

8. Intellectual property

All original lecture notes, practice questions, explanations, the memory-curve system, illustrations, and the trademark “Borui Academy” / 博睿学院 are owned by Borui. You are granted a personal, non-transferable license to use them while your account is active.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Borui Academy is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that you will pass any specific exam, achieve a particular score, or gain admission to any institution. We strive for accuracy but cannot warrant that every explanation or answer is free of errors.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these Terms (e.g. scraping, sharing credentials). On termination, your right to use the service ceases; your personal data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are announced by email and on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Vancouver, BC.
